Oh yes it’s Saturday night and the feeling’s right, oh yeah it’s Saturday night, oh what a, oh what a niiiight. Oh yeah, get down on it, it’s Saturday night, y’all! It’s time to soak up every last ounce of party this weekend has to offer so you better hike up those Party Pants and get down to business tonight! Here’s what’s shaking.
The Trickle Down plays the Thirsty Pig in the Old Port tonight from 8 to 11pm. The Trickle Down is comprised of five players with eclectic musical backgrounds ranging from jazz to rock to pop to world percussion that when brought together produce a melting pot of sound that is sure to please. Tonight it’s an evening of beers, sausages and awesome tunes all starting at 8 o’clock.
The Big Easy’s Saturday Night Soul, Jazz and Blues Series continues this evening with the return of CuLLu. Fronted by Anna Lombard McGeachey, Sara Hallie Richardson and Megan Jo Wilson, CuLLu delivers everything from soul to reggae to hip-hop. If you’re looking for a full-fledged party experience then I’d suggest getting down to The Big Easy around 8 tonight.
If you are in southern Maine tonight I urge you to get to The Oak and The Ax in Biddeford promptly at 8pm to check out the peerless Jacob Augustine. Jacob will be performing a set of his well-crafted tunes on the quaint stage of The Oak and The Ax tonight. Also playing this evening’s bill are Portland singer-songwriter Lisa/Liza and indie-folk artist Tom Thumb. This show will most likely sell out, so don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Looking to shake it all around tonight? Then get your tush over to Empire Dine and Dance in Portland where Portland’s longest running ska band, El Grande will be playing this evening. Also filling out this evening’s bill is reggae group Roots, Rhythm & Dub for a night of original ska and reggae music. Things get started in the newly renovated upstairs portion of The Empire right around 9.
A busy night ahead over at Flask Lounge in Portland tonight as six bands takes the stage for a night of ruckus inducing rock. Tonight you can check out sets from Mad Gingers, Motor Creeps, Jimmy Jacked, Rolling With Nixon, Department of Offense, and Nuclear Boots starting at 10pm.
Ducky Boys headline a show at Geno’s in Portland tonight in honor of the release of their latest album, Chasing the Ghost. The Hudson Falcons, Pinkerton Thugs and Lenny Lashley’s Gang of One join them for a night of full-fledged rock and roll kicking off right around 9 o’clock tonight.
I’m heading south tonight to check out a show at The Stone Church in Newmarket, NH. I haven’t been there in what feels like a decade so I’m ready to check out their vodka selection whilst enjoying some foot-stomping tunes via The Mallett Brothers Band. Tonight The Brothers take the stage for a whiskey-fueled good time alongside show opener, B.A. Canning. Things get started at 8 o’clock tonight.
