Junior Chef Class – Cookie Decorating

Join Williams-Sonoma for a special cookie-decorating event benefiting the non-profit organization Share Our Strength, which fights to end childhood hunger in America. The class involves lots of delicious dessert recipes–and of course plenty of tastings along the way. All ages are welcome, but you must register by calling the store.

Old Orchard Beach Bluesfest at the Ballpark
Saturday, September 13 (1 p.m. – 7 p.m.)
Featuring a rhythmic afternoon of dancing and badass blues bands from all across New England, the Old Orchard Beach Bluesfest at the Ballpark promises fun for all ages. Featured bands include James Montgomery, Mike James and the Blue Lions, Rockin’ George Leh, Colwell Brothers Band, and more. There hasn’t been a concert at the ballpark since 1997.

Pathway Family Festival
Saturday, September 13 (4 p.m. – 9 p.m.)
Come join the family fun at Pathway, where you’ll find giant inflatables, games, a rock wall, food trucks, and live music. Admission to the event is free, but the food trucks are pay as you order. The evening ends with a fireworks display, at 8 p.m.

4th Annual Lyme-Aid Family Festival
Sunday, September 14 (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
Bring your lawn chairs and picnic to enjoy local Maine musical talent while helping to raise awareness of Lyme disease. There will be lots of kids activities, food, carriage rides, apple picking, and a farmers market, in addition to eight musical acts throughout the day. Guests are encouraged to donate as much as they feel appropriate.

Classic Album Sunday: Jeff Buckley’s Grace
Sunday, September 14 (5 p.m.)
Classic Album Sunday is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Jeff Buckley’s Grace, an album that became a posthumous classic. First, you’ll listen to the music that was either inspired by or relevant to this LP, then the lights go down, the volume goes way up, and the album is played from start to finish. Presenter John Nels Blanchette will give everyone an education on the album.

1st Annual Deering Center Porchfest
Sunday, September 14 (12 p.m. – 4 p.m.)
Porchfest is a celebration of local music and a way for people to gather and enjoy each other–it’s about coming together as a community to connect, have fun, and appreciate the neighborhood. Everyone is invited to stroll or bike or jog through the area, to listen to the musical sounds of Deering Center’s citizens.
