Similar to The Moth Radio Hour, The Corner welcomes storytellers to the stage to tell tales revolving around a specific theme. Tonight’s theme, called “Fearless,” welcomes stories about overcoming fear, embracing it, fleeing from it, or any other form of interaction with it. Regardless, this event will be all about stories that fit with or defy the label “fearless.” Whether you’re a storyteller or a fan of intimate stories, this event is sure to please.

Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta
Thursday, Oct. 9 (4 p.m.) though Sunday, Oct. 12 (All Day)
Want to learn how to build a pumpkinboat? Or see such Alfred Hitchcock movies Vertigo and Rear Window? How about underwater pumpkin carving? All of this and more will be available during the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta, which happens all throughout the Newcastle and Damariscotta area. There will also be a pumpkin dessert contest, a pumpkin pancake breakfast, and a pumpkin hurl and catapult competition. Attendants should check online for a full schedule of events and list of venues.
Fall Festival at Wolfe’s Neck Farm

Head on over to Wolfe’s Neck Farm’s non-profit plot of lands as they celebrate sustainable agriculture and the beautiful bounty of Maine. This wholesome family festival features activities and demonstrations, live music, hay bale climbing, face painting, animal interactions, tasty local food, and more. The pumpkin hayrides happen throughout the festival, so take a tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch and pick your favorite pumpkin to take home.

Gneiss Brewing 1st Anniversary Party

Oh how time flies. Gneiss Brewing Company welcomes the public to come celebrate their one-year anniversary. The celebration takes place in the Gneiss driveway, where there will be live music from such performers as The Inflatables and Ghost 211. There will also be food provided by The Lincoln Pub. Tickets include one drink ticket, two BBQ pulled pork or chicken sandwiches, and one commemorative pint glass.

5th Annual Swine & Stein Oktoberfest

It’s swine and stein time! Hosted in historic Gardiner, this annual event promises an oompah band as well as yummy farm-to-table port and local offerings. Plus, a bunch of delicious Maine craft beer will be on hand to help get people dancing to the great lineup of local Maine musicians. Whether you want pig on bread, a plate, or a stick, you’ll be able to find a delicious pork-driven dish that meets your Oktoberfest tastes. Additional activities include a chicken fling, a frozen t-shirt race, pumpkin carvings, and other children activities.

Portland Pirates vs. Providence Bruins
Saturday, Oct. 11 (7 p.m.)
After a season spent in Lewiston, the Portland Pirates have returned to play in their hometown of Portland, and this is their first game of the season. Catch the action, as the Portland Pirates face off against the Providence Bruins. After this game, the Pirates will not be playing a home game until October 25, when they take on Syracuse Crunch, so catch them now before they hit the road to the crush out-of-state competition.
